Dr. Leah Forquer grew up all over the United States as part of a military family. As a small child, a local stable ignited Leah’s passion for horses and introduced her to three-day eventing. Understanding first hand the frustrations associated with equine lameness, Leah started her education at University of California at Davis with the hopes of eventually improving the manner by which we treat equine musculoskeletal injuries.

Prior to veterinary school, Leah completed a BS degree in Animal Science, and a PhD in Comparative Pathology both at UC Davis. With a long-standing interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation, she found herself starting her graduate research as the veterinary regenerative medicine field was in its infancy. Ultimately, her graduate research focused on the role of stem cells in orthopedic pathology and aided in the beginnings of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Regenerative Medicine Group.

While in veterinary school, Dr. Forquer worked as a nurse in the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital and remained active in the Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Group. In addition, Dr. Forquer was one of seven veterinary students selected nationally to work on the veterinary team at the prestigious Rolex Kentucky **** Three Day Event in Lexington Kentucky and earned multiple awards in veterinary school for excellence in equine medicine.

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Forquer completed an intensive equine sports medicine and lameness internship in southern California at Specifically Equine Veterinary Service under the guidance of Charles Boles, DVM DACVS. After the completion of her intern year, Dr. Forquer was invited to remain on staff as an associate veterinarian where she practiced until the fall of 2014 when she accepted an associate position at Bayhill Equine in Redwood City California.  During her time at Bayhill Equine Dr. Forquer continued to focus on equine sports medicine and lameness until joining Central Coast Veterinary Clinic in June of 2016.

To further her education, and to better service her clients, Dr. Forquer is certified in Animal Chiropractic, Veterinary Medical Acupuncture, and is also an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian.
